Naruto Chapter 613 Discussion
#41
I can't believe Shikaku and Inoichi are gone. Well, I bet Kishimoto will show that they're actually alive or something.

well,he'll probably show a flashback of them telling the alliance the plan, and then getting atomized Tongue

I give it a 50-50 chance, lol. I don't know. Kishimoto has a habit of making us think people are dead when they're really not.

Well I have to say, this is a proper step up for Juubi. It now looks like the Eldritch abomination it's supposed to be. Sadly that was the only really interesting thing in this entire chapter =/

Kills off Shikaku and Inoichi.

Doesn't kill off Onoki despite it being far more sensible and set up well enough to follow through with.

I'm not sure what to say about Kishi anymore.

He's just going by the ratings and too many people are far more popular (with an important role that is) than those two. It's not so hard to kill them off as there'll be less of a backlash, than killing popular characters.

Following the flow off popularity and letting it determine how things should go as well the will of the fans, is something that always ruins the potential in stories ... if not your own lack of ability in story making. Either way I always hate how popularity an trying to please certain fan groupings, destroys good manga's with lot's of potential for so much better.

True.

I understand not killing off certain popular characters (killing off Hinata or Shikamaru would be lame), but this is Onoki. He may be popular, but he's not that popular and his death would add something to the dynamic of transition that's laced within this arc as he's of the past generation --he's seemingly a bit before Hiruzen's time, might I add.

That being said, Onoki hardly crosses me as too popular to kill off. His death would only benefit Kishi rather than hurt him. I doubt you're insinuating it as a good thing, but I just get the feeling that Shikaku and Inoichi's death were just thrown in there for the sake of it. Though it adds a bit of emotional turmoil for Ino and Shikamaru, which is interesting.

It's a fact of life though, inevitable. It's not really a lack of ability in story making but part of how things just work. There are some instances where some authors don't give a crap, but those are different circumstances than manga.

Also, money.
