Yes I get SQL error too.
I figured it wasn't a big enough server. Problem is if it keeps up the followers will dwindle quickly. I agree just go with the new one and try to recover the old on the side. When it's working I like the features on the new one a lot - it is better in some ways and we can work on making it even better altogether.

Having a brand new home that the members helped to build together is nice.
I figured that's what it was.
The thing that I worry about is that once it's in place and working fine then even more old users will come back, which could make it unstable again. Back on the old forum we had about 1000 people on when the big three came out and the max so far is about 250 if I remember correctly.

The issue is not the new site, it's the size of the server. Once a final decision is made to keep the new forum as the permanent home then a larger server will be purchased to accommodate over 1000 users on line at once.
The server it has now can not do that.
Servers are expensive, the one my son rented for his maplestory forum was 450.00 a month.
The one Greg would need for us would be around 100-200 a month.
It isn't in the realm of reality for one person to bare that expense and the cost of the add ons, like social groups and extra features all by them self.
If the new forum is to run at full capacity with great user friendly features we all need to financially support our home.
I am just waiting for Greg to decide this new site will be our home. Once he does, all the other loading issues and server down time issues will go away.
Understandably no body wants to put loads of money into a site if it isn't going to be permanent.
I am saying I think it should be permanent, just go with the new get a donation box set in place and lets get us a server worthy of our members activity level.

Had a feeling it had to do with money, another forum I frequent has a donation box. I'll donate. If a horde of us do it, that means less for the each of us. I'm partly sure 20 of us can give 10 bucks over the course of a month, or even easier to have 40 of us give 5. (I'm sure money's not abundant for a number of us, recessions....) Sucks though, but that's life.
I'll be real, I like the idea of the old forum coming back. The new forum has some nice features, but the old one was a better fit to me personally. IPboard's VM system isn't exactly good. Though just recovering all the info is great too.

Between the Old thread and the New thread, I do like the style of the newer thread more and wouldn't mind it being the more official forum to use from now on.
The only issues I seem to have with it is the lack of control on thread making and all, seriously who's going to talk about the 2nd Hokage in any great detail .. not to mention how unimportant he is to everything. In the old forum his thread reach to like 2 or 3 parts based on a culmination of posts varied between great time spans; yet he an various other insignificant characters are getting threads that seem to just spam up the area with useless threads. Then there's also the other random stuff.
Other than that everything is cool.
I wouldn't mind also putting out some donations to help support the continuation of the newer forum, but unfortunately any money I have goes towards me staying alive and having a roof over my head pretty much.

I think that if a bunch of us even donated 5, 10, 20, it would add up quickly.
I do miss the wealth and history of posts we had on the old forum and liked it just fine in fact I was quite happy with it, I had tons of posts on there, that will probably never come back and that is sad.
But if it's not going to come back we have to face reality and move to the new one and improve it.
