Well the mangaka has already stated that he knows exactly how the story is going to end so it really is just a waiting matter... but I have a feeling that the Akatsuki story line will either be the last or second to last story line with Naruto eventually becoming Hokage even though it kinda sounds cliche. Also, it is true that the constant fox chakra tearing up his body and recovering it quickly while in four tails mode reduces his total life span... kinda like the shinigami eye deal in Death Note. But I believe that if anything the last battle will be Naruto battling against some super powered nine tailed fox like Ichigo vs Hollow Ichigo or something like that. Out of it all, even if Naruto becomes Hokage I doubt he will live a long, prosperous life.
I dont think Naruto will become Hokage... It seems like the manga is leaning more towards Skikamaru. I think either Sasuke or Naruto will die...please let it be Sasuke (my god is he annoying). I think Sasuke will get his revenge on Itachi...or Naruto will kill Itachi pissing off Sasuke who will in turn want revenge on Naruto with the series ending with an all out war between the two of them!
i kinda agree with mangaaddict enspecially about the sasuke part he is soo freaken anoying but i also think naruto will become hokage cuz u have to kno 1000 jutsus to become hokatage and shikamaru only has is basics and shadow.

Anyway, the Shikamaru theory throws me off, he can barely handle being a Chunin, or Jounin was it? He hates all the work he has to do, he's got smarts, but it takes courage, honour, and you have to believe in yourself...Shika is lazy...not that I don't like him, he's just not fit for the job in my opinion.
also he said hes gonna raise the kid in the red eyes girl forgot her name. so i doubt he has the time to do both and i agree with yamasta he is lazy.

I thought Shika changed though... now he wants responsiblity and all that junk... at least thats what I thought. As for the other charcters what do you think will happen to them?? Who do you think will become jounins? I think Shiba, Naruto (possibly kage level), maybe Sakura, anyone else??

Okay not to be offensive but that sounds kinda bull, you don't have to know 1000 jutsus to be hokage, the village leaders pick the best suited for the job so basically the best shinobi (male ninja), now yes it might be better to know a lot of jutsus because then it shows your capacity for learning but that doesn't mean that they are good with them. I know how to do (some) calculus but I am still horrible at it. And I think everyone thinks pretty ill of Shikamaru, he has grown quite a bit since he was a kid. Since the time skip Shikamaru has grown quite a lot as a shinobi of the leaf village and has the proper respect for the ninja way especially since Asuma died... and even though it is bad for his health, Shikamaru is bad ass with a cigarette.
